We're Hiring:Seeking a full time, fixed term position Wellbeing Community Connector.
About Us
Aboriginal Community Housing Limited, a national Tier 1 Aboriginal community housing organisation that provides culturally appropriate property and tenancy management services across Australia.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Wellbeing Community Connector to act as a culturally safe, trusted, and visible support presence across the Kempsey LGA and broader Macleay Valley. In this role, you will provide holistic outreach support to individuals and families affected by substance use, domestic and family violence, and social and emotional challenges.
You will work closely with Aboriginal families and local services to strengthen identity, promote healing, and reduce harm. This includes supporting and facilitating healing-based workshops and programs, supporting vulnerable households, and contributing to initiatives that empower young Aboriginal men.
What You'll Do:
You are an experienced community services or social work professional who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is deeply connected to culture and community. You bring strong interpersonal skills, compassion, and resilience, with proven ability to deliver positive outcomes for Aboriginal families and youth.
What We're Looking For:
- Demonstrated experience in social work, community services, Indigenous health, or youth work
- Extensive experience working with Aboriginal communities, with proven capability to deliver positive outcomes
- A relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Indigenous Health or Youth Work
- Must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Strong connection to, and understanding of, Aboriginal culture, community, and history, including impacts of colonisation, intergenerational trauma, and systemic barriers.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering community programs or case management in Aboriginal contexts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with community and stakeholders.
- Flexibility to attend community events outside standard business hours, if required
- Willingness to travel across the Mid North Coast for outreach work.
- A current NSW Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- A current unrestricted Driver's Licence
- Be accepted or recognised within Dunghutti Country (desirable)
