Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) is Australia's leading breast cancer consumer organisation.
At BCNA, we stand with Australians affected by breast cancer. We make sure their voices are heard and that the information and support they need is clear, accessible and trusted.
BCNA is represented by the Pink Lady silhouette – symbolic of BCNA's focus on the people affected by breast cancer and all those around them, not the disease.
We're looking for a mid-level Digital Content Specialist to join our small but passionate digital content team.
This role sits at the intersection of UX writing, accessibility, and health communication. You'll design content grounded in real user needs and lived experiences—making digital experiences more inclusive, respectful, and genuinely useful.
In this role, you'll create content that truly matters. This isn't a marketing role, it's not about driving clicks or conversions. It's about supporting people at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. Your work will give people affected by breast cancer the clarity, confidence, and dignity they deserve.
You'll be part of a small, supportive team where you'll have ownership of your work and the chance to see real impact. This is a great role if you're looking to grow your skills in content design while making a genuine difference.
What you'll do
- Create and update clear, accessible content for BCNA's website and digital platforms.
- Work with people affected by breast cancer and health professionals to co-design content that reflects real needs and lived experience.
- Translate complex health information into plain language that's accurate, respectful, and easy to understand.
- Use content design, UX, and accessibility principles to make content inclusive and user-friendly.
- Apply SEO and analytics insights to help people find and use our content.
- Manage content through our content management system (CMS) and follow agreed workflows.
- Contribute to team standards and share knowledge to keep improving how we work.
What you'll bring to the role
- Experience creating digital content using content design or UX writing approaches.
- Ability to write in plain language and adapt complex information for different audiences.
- Understanding of accessibility (WCAG), inclusive design, and SEO basics.
- Organisational skills to manage workflows, reviews, and deadlines.
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to work with stakeholders, including people with lived experience and subject matter experts.
- Curiosity and openness to learning, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
How to apply
If you're passionate about making digital content more useful and inclusive, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now with your resume and a cover letter telling us why you're the right fit.
We value diversity and inclusion and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, people with disability, and LGBTQ+ people. Applicants must have unrestricted working rights for an ongoing role and complete a National Police History check.
