About us

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

About the role

The Regulatory Transaction Services (RTS) provides business and occupational licensing and not-for-profit registration services to Victorians.

Reporting to the RTS Team Leader, Regulatory Officers are responsible for the timely and accurate execution of tasks in line with legislation and operational policies associated with CAV's licensing and registration schemes.

Regulatory Officers also provide information to clients both verbally and in writing and accurately and promptly maintain CAV's record management databases and resources.

Key Accountabilities include

  • Carry out tasks associated with the RTS' regulatory activities ensuring accurate, timely and professional services are provided to regulatory clients, so as to meet or exceed RTS goals and targets.
  • Apply legislative requirements and operational policies to processing and decision-making responsibilities ensuring procedures, policies and performance standards are adhered to.
  • Update, maintain and utilise electronic records and databases in accordance with RTS operational policy and departmental records management policies, procedures and business rules.
  • In accordance with operational policy and departmental records management policies, procedures and business rules, process incoming mail and matters creation for Consumer Affairs Victoria.
  • Effectively and efficiently respond to queries and requests received from clients, regarding matters such as legislative requirements and the progress of pending applications and other processes.

About you

  • Interpersonal Skills - builds rapport with others in order to understand issues and suggest courses of action appropriate to their needs
  • Problem Solving - solves problems based on operational guidelines, knowledge and experience, scanning for useful information, looking for underlying causes, and suggesting alternative actions to clients.
  • Computer Skills - effectively use departmental computer systems for basic word processing, email, appointment scheduling, and internet and intranet functions.
  • Organisational Awareness - uses an understanding of guidelines and frameworks to organise work priorities, address issues in a consistent manner and suggest improvements.
