About Us

Globally, energy markets are in transition to a net zero future and the entities within these markets are transforming their underlying business models to ensure that they stay relevant, sustainable and profitable. As one of Australia's largest energy providers, we are proud of our purpose to lead and accelerate the clean energy transformation for all.

About the Team

The Customer Compliance Performance team is undergoing significant transformation, creating exciting new opportunities to join at a pivotal time, where you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact. This team provides specialist compliance expertise to the Customer Business Unit, supporting effective compliance management and ensuring EnergyAustralia's regulatory obligations, governance systems, processes, and frameworks meet both industry standards and customer expectations. And this is where you come in

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Customer Compliance Performance Team, as our Regulatory Response Leader. In this role, you will drive uplift in the management of regulatory responses, providing coordination and oversight of regulatory matters across the Customer business. The role will support the Head of Customer Compliance Performance and the Chief Customer Officer to ensure regulatory requests and notices are assessed early, there is proactive coordination and collation of information and documentation, and responses are submitted on time. The role builds strong partnerships with Business Unit leaders, Compliance Advisory and Legal teams.

Other aspects of the role include:

  • Maintaining oversight of regulatory matters across Customer including regulatory reporting, requests for information, investigations and consultations.
  • Reviewing regulatory submissions and responses to ensure they are factually based, responsive, and consistent. Partner with Legal, Compliance, and the Customer teams to ensure requests are understood, responses are being fully considered, and legal advice is being sought where needed.
  • Driving accountability for actions across multiple business streams — knowing when to escalate, when to challenge, and when to roll up sleeves to get the job done.
  • Developing and maintaining agenda for regular regulatory engagements including identifying areas of potential focus and opportunities for proactive engagement.
  • Providing training and support to Customer teams on preparation of regulatory reporting and responses.
  • Preparing and coordinating internal reporting for Compliance and Risk forums, Customer leadership team and Executive forums.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a dedicated leader with considerable experience in a regulatory compliance or legal role within either the energy sector or a similar complex retail regulatory environment. Other things we're keen on include:

  • Experience managing or advising on regulatory investigations and responding to regulatory requests.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills — able to translate complex issues into actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with sound judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively.
  • Experience working with or supporting senior executives.
  • Outcome-driven: Focused on resolving issues and driving work to completion, not simply tracking activity.
  • Adaptable and proactive, ready to tackle challenges with a continuous improvement mindset.
