About Us:
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS, the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.
H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum-security men's protection prison located 140klm west of Melbourne at Trawalla. The prison's primary purpose is to prepare male prisoners for transition, reintegration, and release. As a working farm with eight separate industries, there is a strong focus on employment, training, and work readiness.
About the Role:
Rostering plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the location by managing staff deployments and rostering.
Some of your duties will include:
- Assisting with the development of rosters and takin carriage for publishing fortnightly rosters, up to 6 weeks in advance, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with relevant policies and the VPS Agreement
- Monitoring and maintaining rosters daily, adjusting to accommodate changes such as leave requests, unplanned absences and operational needs
- Maintaining rostering information on TimeTarget (e.g. Leave planner, Forecast Tool, and Compliance task list), employee databases and establishments.
Officers operate on a rotating 14-day roster, which involves weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provisions of the 2024 VPS Enterprise Agreement.
About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrable experience and proficiency in the use of rostering-based systems, such as TimeTarget/Humanforce or Kronos, and understanding of rostering principles for planning and maintaining multiple staff roster lines.
- Demonstrable experience understanding and advising on enterprise awards and agreements as they relate to rostering.
- Knowledge and experience in rostering, human resource services and/ or payroll processing
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A relevant qualification in human resources, finance or business administration is highly desirable
