St James Lutheran College is seeking an experienced and future-focused 
Business Manager
 to join our Executive Leadership Team.

Reporting directly to the Principal and College Council, the Business Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the effective operation of the College's financial, administrative and operational functions.

This role provides executive oversight of finance, property, ICT, compliance, human resources, and administration, with a strong focus on strategic financial planning, risk management, and operational sustainability. The Business Manager acts as a key adviser to the Principal and Council, contributing to long-term planning and ensuring the College continues to thrive as a Christ-centred learning community.

The successful candidate will lead and support staff across business services and provide high-level expertise in areas including financial stewardship, compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and the management of capital works and resources.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, Commerce or related field
  • Membership of a recognised accounting body (CA/CPA or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in finance, operations, or administration
  • Strong financial management expertise including budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and reporting for organisations with $10M+ annual turnover
  • Knowledge of HR, WHS, and risk management frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead teams and build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Current Blue Card (or eligibility to obtain prior to commencement)

Desirable

  • Experience in the education or not-for-profit sector
  • Familiarity with TASS (The Alpha School System) or similar school-based systems
  • Qualifications or experience in leadership, governance or organisational management
