Mildura Health Private Hospital (MHPH) is a not-for-profit private hospital based in the beautiful Murray River town of Mildura.

MHPH is a 56-bed private hospital providing a range of surgical options. MHPH recently completed a $22 million dollar redevelopment of operating theatres and development of the Mildura Health Icon Cancer Centre. MHPH also provides GP services and a specialist clinic for Visiting Medical Officers within Mildura Health Private Consulting.

MHPH is owned by Mildura Health Fund and the organisation is committed to deliver better health outcomes and improve the lives of people for the local community and extended communities throughout the Mallee, Far West NSW and Riverland in South Australia.

The opportunity

An opportunity has become available for an experienced and high performing Manager Finance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working within a dynamic team, you will lead and empower the Finance team in a fast paced and busy environment to ensure all month end tasks and reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner with financial integrity and organisation compliance.

Your proactive hands-on approach together with your people leadership skills and experience, will support your success in this integral position. Your genuine curiosity to understand data together with your ability to translate results will be critical to your success.

Within this role you'll be responsible for:

  • Integrity and accuracy of the general ledger including month end processes

  • Preparation of management reporting

  • Coordination of the year end financial processes

  • Managing fixed assets and associated maintenance of records, register and stock controls

  • Managing the revenue function including MHPH billing, sundry invoicing, statements, and debt collection

  • Managing accounts payable and banking functions to ensure they are performed in a timely and accurate manner

  • Ensuring internal financial controls are implemented and effective with a focus on continuous improvement and identifying and implementing efficiencies

  • Coordination and preparation of the annual budget and regular forecasting, working in collaboration with the Leadership team to ensure a timely and reliable forecast.

  • Preparation of all statutory reporting including but not limited to: taxation returns such as BAS, FBT, Australian Bureau of Statistics returns and Workcover reporting

  • Developing key relationships and working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Implementing financial policy reforms to ensure robust financial management processes, systems and controls operate to manage MHPH's financial and legal risks.

  • Providing analytical input into business decisions.

The ideal applicant will have high attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to meet and adhere to strict deadlines. Additionally, to be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce (or equivalent)

  • CPA / CA Qualified or studying towards

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with either financial or management accounting and management of staff and finance functions

  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
