We are seeking an experienced Estimator specialising in Solar Projects and Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) work to join our team. As an Estimator, your primary responsibility will be to accurately estimate the costs associated with solar projects and EPC activities. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Business Development/Sales team by creating proposals, tracking project costs, understanding customer specifications, and proposing final budgets. Additionally, you will be responsible for reporting and presenting your analysis to management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective estimating processes and procedures specific to solar projects and EPC work.
  • Attend site inspections to gather information and prepare comprehensive quotes and tenders for solar and EPC projects.
  • Read, interpret, and understand complex customer technical specifications, drawings, and other requirements related to solar and EPC projects.
  • Collaborate with the tendering team to submit formal tenders for solar and EPC projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop scopes of work, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) for subcontractors or vendors in alignment with solar and EPC project requirements.
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers to obtain relevant information, technical data, and pricing specific to solar and EPC projects.
  • Lead estimating efforts for solar and EPC projects by setting up templates, developing procurement schedules, and presenting first principles methodology during reviews.
  • Actively participate in Risk & Opportunity and contract reviews for solar and EPC projects, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Utilize first principles and specialized knowledge of solar systems and EPC processes to develop accurate estimates for solar and EPC projects.
  • Conduct thorough research and maintain a comprehensive database on labour costs, materials, equipment, production times, and industry trends specific to solar and EPC projects.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers and subcontractors, staying updated on the latest pricing, product availability, and technological advancements in solar panels, inverters, batteries, racking, and other Balance of System (BoS) components relevant to solar and EPC projects.
  • Develop and maintain an estimating tool with up-to-date pricing and cost data for major components and services, enabling fast and efficient estimation for solar and EPC projects.
  • Collaborate with the design, procurement, and project execution teams to develop optimized solutions and value engineering options for solar and EPC projects.
  • Contribute to the overall growth and development of the company by actively participating in knowledge sharing, process improvement initiatives, and staying updated on industry advancements and best practices related to solar projects and EPC work.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in solar projects estimation and EPC work.
  • Proven experience and a successful track record as an Estimator, with a focus on solar projects and EPC activities.
  • In-depth knowledge of solar systems, renewable energy technologies, and EPC processes.
  • Familiarity with financial and project management principles specific to solar projects and EPC work.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Affinity for continuous improvement and innovation, applying learnings to real-world project delivery environments in the solar and EPC sectors.
  • Demonstrable and successful experience in electrical estimating for solar projects and EPC work.
  • Wide knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes specific to solar and EPC projects.
  • Working knowledge of design and construct projects, value engineering, and cost optimization in the solar and EPC context.
  • Experience in tendering for complex solar projects and EPC contracts.
