Job Description

We're RMC Track & Civil (part of Railtrain Holdings Group) — a leading provider of track construction and maintenance services across Australia.

We're currently seeking Leading Hand to join our team. This role is ideal for experienced rail workers looking to step up, lead by example, and help deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes on major rail projects.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (minimum)
  • Current Safeworking Accreditation (RIW / Track Access Permit)
  • Construction White Card
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence (desirable)
  • Ability to pass a CAT 1 or CAT 3 Rail Medical Assessment
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening
  • Strong knowledge of rail safety rules and procedures
  • Demonstrated track construction and/or maintenance experience

Job Responsibilities

As a Leading Hand, your duties will include:

  • Leading and supporting track labour teams on construction and maintenance projects
  • Completing risk assessments, pre-starts, and hazard reporting
  • Operating under protection officer instructions and rail safety rules
  • Checking and maintaining hand tools and equipment for safe operation
  • Ensuring compliance with all WHS, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Engaging in clear worksite communication and mentoring team members
