About the role

The Environmental and Cultural Heritage Trainee will support the Environmental Department in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company standards across the mine site. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience in various aspects of environmental management, including monitoring, rehabilitation, data reporting, and incident response. The trainee will work under the supervision of the Environmental Advisors and Environmental Technician to build technical knowledge and field skills relevant to the mining industry.

A key part of the role also includes assisting with the protection and management of cultural heritage values on site. The trainee will help facilitate compliance with cultural heritage obligations and support respectful engagement with Traditional Owners and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibility Areas

·       Environmental monitoring and sampling.

·       Cultural heritage.

·       Rehabilitation and Land Management.

·       Waste and Water Management.

·       Environmental Incident Response.

·       Data Entry and Reporting.

·       Participate in toolbox talks and environmental awareness sessions.

·       Assist with developing and distributing environmental education materials for site personnel.

·       Fieldwork and Site Inspections.

·       Project Support.

·       Assist with other tasks as directed.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have:

·       Current manual Australian Driver's Licence.

·       Completed schooling year level 12.

·       Willingness to complete a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.

·       Previous work experience in an environmental field would be an advantage.

·       A strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team to achieve objectives in a safe and efficient manner is required.

·       Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft office products.

·       Well-developed verbal and written communication.

·       Organised and able to meet deadlines.

This role is a site-based role on a 15:13 FIFO Roster.
