Pool Lifeguard

Job Summary:

We are looking for a vigilant and safety-conscious Indoor Pool Lifeguard to oversee the swimming area and ensure the safety of all pool users. This role involves monitoring swimmers, enforcing facility rules, and responding to emergencies in a professional and timely manner. The ideal candidate is reliable, calm under pressure, and committed to creating a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise all activity in and around the indoor pool to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Respond immediately to emergencies with appropriate rescue and first aid techniques.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe swimming environment.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the pool deck, bathrooms, and surrounding areas.
• Inspect equipment and pool area for hazards or maintenance needs; report issues promptly.
• Complete daily checklists, incident reports, and water quality testing as required.
• Provide customer service by answering patron questions and addressing concerns courteously.
• Ensure consistent levels of cleanliness, hygiene, safety, maintenance and security within the centre.
• Assist staff members e.g.; LTS for equipment in the water.
• Operate pool vacuum and clean when required.
• Operate wheelchair accessibility machine.
• Participate in regular in-service training and emergency drills.

Qualifications:

• Minimum age: 16 years
• Current certification in Pool Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid (e.g., Royal Life Saving or equivalent)
• Strong observational skills and the ability to stay focused in a controlled indoor environment
• Excellent swimming ability and physical fitness
• Ability to communicate clearly and remain calm in stressful situations
• Previous lifeguard experience is a plus but not required
• Working with Children Check

Working Conditions:

• Indoor aquatic facility with controlled climate and lighting
• Prolonged standing, walking, and exposure to humidity and pool chemicals
• Requires weekend, evening, or holiday availability based on pool schedule
• May involve occasional lifting of equipment or assisting with patrons

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

• Pool Lifeguard certificate (Preferred)
