About the role
The Senior Production and Access Officer performs a range of straightforward to moderately complex production, legislation access and publishing tasks using specialised software applications, including final legislative checking prior to publication, updating the legislation database. The role also assists with other production and access services, training and developing more junior team members, maintaining procedures and related documents, and contributing to strategic system development and project work

Essential Requirements
- Understanding of legislative processes, and legislative concepts and standards
- Knowledge of the software applications typically used for legislative production and access, preferably SGML/XML, and the ability to use the customised database systems required to manage office workflows and access operations for the legislation website
- Ability to develop the specialist skills required to produce up-to-date versions of legislation and conduct thorough legislative access checking
- Experience in working as an SME for SGML/XML (or similar equivalent) as part of a project team to deliver operationally critical systems or processes

The Parliamentary Counsel's Office (PCO) is headed by the Parliamentary Counsel and is a Public Service executive agency related to The Cabinet Office under the Government Sector Employment Act 2013.
What we do
We are responsible for drafting and providing access to most of the legislation for New South Wales. We draft all Bills for Acts required for introduction into Parliament. We also draft a wide range of statutory instruments, including regulations, rules, proclamations, orders and environmental planning instruments (EPIs). For more information about the PCO, click here.
