Core Responsibilities*
* Network Device Configuration and Management: Configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.

* Network Security: Implementing and maintaining network security policies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and network access control (NAC).

* Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Troubleshooting network problems, diagnosing issues, and implementing solutions to ensure network stability and performance.

* Documentation and Standardisation: Documenting network configurations, procedures, and policies, and ensuring adherence to industry standards.

* Collaboration: Working with other IT professionals and stakeholders to ensure network requirements are met.

Specific Tasks
* IP Address Management: Auditing and managing IP addresses, ensuring proper allocation and utilisation.

* Network Performance Monitoring: Monitoring network performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimising network configurations.

* Network Upgrades and Maintenance: Performing regular network maintenance, upgrades, and patching to ensure system stability and security.

* Security Measures: Implementing security measures to protect network infrastructure and data from unauthorised access.

Knowledge and Skills
* IP Protocol Knowledge: A strong understanding of IP protocols, networking concepts, and technologies.

* Network Design and Architecture: Experience in designing and implementing network architectures for various environments.

* Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot network issues, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions.

* Security Knowledge: Knowledge of network security principles and technologies.

* Communication and Collaboration: Good communication and collaboration skills to work with other IT professionals and stakeholders.

Experience and Education:

* Education: A bachelor's degree or Tertiary qualification in computer science, telecommunications, engineering, or a related field is often required.

* Certifications: Industry certifications, such as Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP), can be beneficial.
