The Operations Support Team (OST) plays a critical role in strengthening the Bureau's operational resilience and service delivery across national forecast and warning services. Sitting within the Service Development and Integration (SDI) function under the National Production Services (NPS) Program, OST supports the integration of science, systems, and service delivery to enable high-quality, coordinated outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
This team leads the uplift and coordination of operational tools, systems, and processes, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and customer needs. OST also supports quality assurance through performance reporting and contributes to Post Event Review Management, helping to drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
We are seeking a proactive and adaptable team member to contribute to a broad portfolio of activities that enhance operational efficiency and innovation. This includes supporting the transition of new capabilities into routine operations, embedding automation, and driving improvements through LEAN principles and structured governance.
As part of a high-performing team, you will apply and grow your skills in business analysis, process design, stakeholder engagement, and operational strategy. This role offers the opportunity to influence the Bureau's operational future in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Key Activities:
- Post Event Review Management: Coordinate structured post-event reviews using established methodologies to capture lessons learned and drive actionable outcomes. Support seasonal preparedness through targeted exercises, reporting, and capability-building initiatives that enhance operational readiness.
- Forecast Process Improvement: Lead and support the mapping, documentation, and enhancement of operational forecasting processes. Apply structured methodologies and LEAN principles to improve efficiency, consistency, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Operations Monitoring and Improvement: Establish and maintain frameworks to capture operational feedback and transform it into prioritised requirements. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of support functions and service delivery.
- Forecast Service Improvement: Collaborate with service delivery teams and customer-facing functions to ensure operational tools, systems, and guidance reflect evolving customer needs and business priorities. Support the integration of automated guidance and bespoke products into routine operations.
- Forecast Quality Monitoring: Enhance quality assurance processes by incorporating forecast performance data into reporting frameworks. Support decision-making and transparency through structured reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Operations Coordination: Maintain consistent communication channels across operational teams and stakeholders. Support coordination of systems, data, and ICT changes to ensure continuity and visibility of operational impacts.
- Building Relationships: Foster strong collaborative relationships across CSG, SIG, DDG, and other key stakeholders. Support structured engagement through regular meetings, shared documentation, and proactive follow-up to strengthen alignment and delivery.
- Capacity and Capability: Monitor and support resource availability, competency development, and training needs across operational teams. Contribute to capability-building initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and preparedness.
