Job Title: SHEQ Officer - Temporary Contract (Hunter/Central Coast Region)

About the Role:
We're seeking a proactive and adaptable
SHEQ Officer
to support the delivery of safety, health, environment, and quality initiatives across the Whole of Government Schools Contract in the Hunter/Central Coast region. This is a
temporary role
replacing a previous SHEQ position during a transition period, with no extension beyond December 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct morning site visits and document findings through photographs and reports
- Perform audits and inspections using established guides (e.g., cleaner's room checks)
- Manage training records via Power BI and SuccessFactors, including rebooking and uploading completions
- Draft safety alerts and support incident reporting and investigations
- Assist with onboarding and inductions for employees and contractors
- Prepare and deliver SHEQ reports, communications, and alerts
- Ensure compliance with Risk Management, Quality, and HSE systems and statutory obligations
Team Structure:
- Work closely with the SHEQ Manager and Return to Work Coordinator
- Collaborate with site Supervisors who act as subject matter experts and key points of contact during visits
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a WHS-related role
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (used daily)
- Certificate IV in WHS is highly desirable but not mandatory
- Strong collaboration skills across all levels of management and staff
- Organised, resilient, and able to meet tight deadlines
- Comfortable in a fast-changing environment and confident engaging with stakeholders
- Inquisitive, proactive, and open to direction
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Skills:
-Minimum 1 year experience in a WHS or SHEQ-related role
-Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) - used daily for reporting and documentation
-Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
-Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
Highly Regarded:
-Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (WHS)
-Experience with Power BI and SuccessFactors for training and compliance tracking
-Exposure to incident reporting, investigations, and contractor onboarding
Personal Attributes:
-Adaptable and resilient in changing environments
-Inquisitive and engaged, with a willingness to learn
-Comfortable working independently and taking direction from multiple stakeholders
