Lead Electrical Engineer - Major Greenfield Project - Feasibility stage

Resourcing this study from Australia reflects Stantec's strategy to increase its focus on major projects, strengthening capability in the local resources sector while contributing to global delivery. As a flagship project, its successful outcome will provide strong visibility within Stantec and open doors to future opportunities, both in Australia and across their global network.

About the Project

This large-scale greenfield development is progressing through its Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), with early works and execution phases to follow.

The project presents the complexities typical of major gold and copper developments in the region:

  • Remote location requiring robust, site-wide power generation and distribution solutions
  • Critical path driven by long-lead procurement of electrical equipment
  • Integration of HV power networks across multiple sites and facilities
  • Study outcomes that must set a defensible baseline for execution readiness

About the Role

The Lead Electrical Engineer will take ownership of the electrical scope across the study, with responsibilities including:

  • Leading design and engineering of power generation, transmission, and site-wide distribution systems
  • Developing study-level load forecasts, one-line diagrams, and distribution layouts
  • Providing input into Class 3 cost estimates, long-lead equipment lists, and procurement strategies
  • Ensuring designs meet international and Australian standards while addressing local conditions
  • Coordinating electrical design with mechanical, civil, and project controls teams
  • Supporting risk reviews, constructability assessments, and transition planning into execution

About You

We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer with:

  • Proven leadership experience on major projects in mining, resources, or infrastructure
  • Strong background in high-voltage power generation, transmission, and distribution
  • Hands-on experience with DIgSILENT or PowerFactory (preferred)
  • Understanding of study-phase deliverables and their role in execution planning
  • Ability to integrate across disciplines and provide clear, defensible inputs to cost and schedule teams
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across internal and external parties

Roster & Conditions

  • Monday to Friday, based in Perth CBD
  • Hybrid work options – up to 1 day WFH per week
  • Hours: 40 per week plus approved overtime
  • Staff or 12 month Contract will be considered
