An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Social Policy Group, Justice Branch, as a Manager, Community Safety Team at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

DPC's Justice Branch provides high-quality, strategic analysis and advice on justice policy issues to support the Premier and Cabinet. The Branch also contributes to the development and delivery of key policies and priority projects from a whole-of-government perspective across the justice portfolio.

The Manager, Community Safety Team role leads a team responsible for Community Safety and Justice related policies within DPC's Social Policy Group. The role requires an individual with strong policy skills, written communication, people management, stakeholder management and conceptual and analytical ability.

Reporting to the Director, Justice Branch, you will lead and manage a team, and provide authoritative and expert advice to the Premier, Secretary and senior executives on relevant policies, programs, and issues relating to justice portfolios. You will also be responsible for initiating, leading and contributing to policy analyses and coordination processes to support the implementation of government policy in the portfolio.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading policy and budget analysis to inform the development, coordination and implementation of policies and programs.
  • Demonstrated people management and leadership experience with ability to create a team culture that enables others to perform at their best and achieve outcomes for the organisation.
  • Sound conceptual and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to synthesise information from a range of sources and events, including from outside own areas of responsibility, clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with an ability to build relationships and effectively negotiate with clients/stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
