Senior Linux Engineer

My client is a leading scientific institution dedicated to solving complex challenges through nuclear science and innovation. As part of their operations, they run a variety of Scientific Instrument Computers that are critical to research, industrial control, and data analysis.

Your new role

As a Senior Linux Remediation Engineer, you will lead the remediation, replacement, or decommissioning of legacy Linux-based Scientific Instrument Computers. You'll collaborate closely with scientists and IT teams to deliver reliable, secure, and well-documented systems while mitigating cybersecurity and operational risk.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 5+ years' experience in a Level 2 or 3 Support capacity
  • Strong expertise with Linux-based operating systems
  • Proven ability to solve complex IT issues
  • Experience with secure system design and implementation
  • Hands-on involvement in hardware rollout and upgrade projects
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Active NV1 Clearance
  • Experience with scientific or medical instrumentation
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Java, C++)
  • Cisco CCNA or higher in Cybersecurity/Enterprise
  • ITIL 4 certification or above
  • Experience mentoring or training support team members
