We're looking for caring, reliable, and person-centred Disability Support Workers to join our growing team across Brisbane North.


About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker with Akinability, you'll be walking alongside people with disabilities, supporting them to live independently, pursue their goals, and feel included in their communities. Every day is different, and every interaction is an opportunity to empower someone.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting people with daily living tasks like personal care, meal prep, and light housekeeping
  • Building meaningful relationships and encouraging community participation through outings and activities
  • Working with individuals with mental health conditions and behaviours of concern
  • Supporting children and young people in a safe, nurturing way
  • Advocating for the rights, choices, and voices of the people you support
  • Collaborating with families and professionals to deliver truly person-centred care
  • Keeping accurate records to ensure quality and continuity of support
  • Being comfortable with client choice and control, including in homes where smoking is permitted

We currently have sleepover shifts, morning, and afternoon shifts available.

We're especially looking at urgently hiring:

Multiple Male and Female Support Workers - With availability to work in Ferny Grove afternoon and active night shifts with a female Participant with experience with Complex PTSD and ASD. Clear English skills, ability to follow house task check list and work autonomously following clear set out directions provided by your team leader while Participant is asleep during the day. Due to their sleep schedule, shifts often run late into the night.

We are also hiring for children with PDA, ASD with ADHD some with behaviours of concerns. Location in Caboolture. All who require STABILITY and CONSISTENCY. If you have experience and a passion for working with children and offering assistance to their families and believe you can make a difference in these children's lives to help them achieve their goals we want you

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience supporting people with disabilities, including mental health and behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient, and respectful approach
  • Great communication and relationship-building skills
  • A valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
  • A Certificate III or IV in Disability Support (desirable, but not essential)
