Opportunity

New South Wales Golf Club is currently seeking a full-time Irrigation Technician to join the team, working a 38 hour week, with overtime as required to ensure the course is maintained to an international standard.

About us

New South Wales Golf Club is an iconic championship golf course located in Sydney's eastern suburbs. This world-renowned links style course is a true test of golf, sculptured throughout the rolling hills and dunes of the Kamay National Park. This private member course is currently ranked in the top 50 golf courses in the world.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain the golf course's irrigation system, pumps, and controllers
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of valves, sprinklers, and pipelines
  • Schedule and adjust irrigation programs in line with weather conditions, turf requirements, and course activities
  • Support turf health by applying water efficiently and sustainably
  • Assist with course projects including irrigation upgrades, system mapping, and new installations
  • Maintain detailed records of water usage, repairs, and system performance
  • Required to work on the course maintenance team turf preparation as required to meet golfer tee times

Qualifications & experience

  • Previous experience in golf course, turf, or large-scale irrigation systems
  • Sound knowledge of irrigation components, hydraulics, and automated controllers
  • Ability to identify and resolve system faults quickly and effectively
  • Strong turf awareness and understanding of water requirements for different playing surfaces
  • Must have experience working on Bentgrass golf greens (required for estimating irrigation timing and efficiency etc)
  • A hands-on, proactive approach with a focus on safety and detail
  • Relevant trade qualification or Certificate III in Sports Turf Management/Irrigation (preferred)
