Electrical Technician - CAF Rail Australia - Canberra

We are currently seeking an Electrical Technician, based in Canberra. To ensure the overall smooth and efficient Technical Electrical scope for the retrofit of Light Rail Vehicles in line with CAF policies and procedures. This position is expected to conclude in May 2026.

The role performs electrical installation, wiring, routing, connecting an also dismantling or assembly electrical equipment activities from the reception of the cars to delivery to Tests and subsequently, solves open points of pending finishes, indicated by Quality.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows Wiring instructions, connecting instructions and modifications information. as well as Check lists and control Sheets, to electrically assemble the parts and systems according to CAF procedures.
• Responsible for electrical assembly operation in the train, such as: o Routing and installation of wires
• Connection of electrical systems on the deck.
• Wiring and connection, in passenger area, driver desk and cabin.
• Assembly of electrical subassemblies.
• Assembly and connection of traction equipment and equipment underframe.
• Assists new operators in the modernisation work.
• Finishing: solving the points detected in the assembly areas, by Quality or by the customer, so that the cars and units are finished, even if the open points are detected in Tests.
• Based on the Planning, ensures the fulfilment of activities on time.
• Follows CAF procedures and Project documentation.
• Completes Control Sheets in real time.
• Fulfil Quality objectives.
• Ensures tidiness, cleanliness and compliance with health and safety policies.
• In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined, you must be prepared to undertake such additional duties which may result from changing circumstances.

PROFILE

QUALIFICATIONS

• Possess a trade qualification in Electrical technical disciplines and/or workplace experience in relevant industries such as: Engineering, Automotive, Rail Construction, Manufacturing, Electrical/Electronics.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

• Experience of at least two years, in industrial electrical maintenance activities
• Recommended experience on railway maintenance, electrical area.
• Drawings interpretation.
