Position: National Commissioning Manager

Location: Australia (flexible nationwide)

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and highly driven National Commissioning Manager to lead and deliver commissioning activities across major energy, infrastructure, and industrial projects throughout Australia.

Working within a dynamic and growing engineering services organisation specialising in power systems, renewables, automation, and control-system integration, you'll play a key role in driving project delivery excellence, ensuring commissioning standards are met and shaping a high-performing national team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all commissioning activities for national projects, from planning through to hand-over, ensuring compliance with technical, safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies, programs, work scopes, resource plans and budgets in line with project objectives.
  • Manage a multidisciplinary commissioning team (including commissioning engineers, field technicians, contractors and subcontractors) across multiple states/territories.
  • Serve as the key interface with internal project delivery, design, operations, clients and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and fulfilment of project milestones.
  • Monitor performance metrics, reduce delays, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement of commissioning processes and practices.
  • Maintain and enhance a culture of safety-first, quality assurance, and operational integrity.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on commissioning performance, resource utilisation, cost control and risk management.
  • Champion best practice commissioning methodologies, systems integration (including SCADA/RTU/PLC), grid-connections and renewables systems (solar, wind, battery energy storage).
  • Travel frequently to project sites nationally based on commissioning schedules.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualification (Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline) or commensurate experience.
  • Significant experience (10+ years) in commissioning roles within the energy, utilities or industrial sectors, with a proven track record in leading large-scale, multi-region projects.
  • Strong technical competency in electrical systems, power transmission/distribution, renewables integration, control systems and automation.
  • Excellent leadership and people-management skills; ability to build, mentor and motivate a national team.
  • Outstanding communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills; confident dealing with senior clients, contractors and internal leadership.
  • Strong commercial awareness, budget and cost-control capability.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated and autonomous with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Australia and work flexible hours as required on project sites.
  • Current driver's licence: any additional certifications (e.g., commissioning accreditation, site safety, high-voltage awareness) are advantageous.

What's on Offer:

  • Be part of a leading engineering services company at the forefront of the evolving energy transition, working on iconic national-scale renewables, grid-connection and automation projects.
  • Lead and build a nationwide commissioning function from a senior position, genuine career ownership, influence and growth potential.
  • Dynamic and supportive culture that values innovation, safety, quality and people development.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, aligned with the scope, scale and responsibility of the role.
  • Work flexibility with national reach, it's a role that provides both strategic senior impact and hands-on operational engagement.
