Summary:

NCHHS is currently seeking a Speech Pathology Assistant to join our team and work under the direction of a qualified Speech Pathologist to deliver therapy programs and support clients in achieving their communication and development goals. This role involves preparing and running therapy activities, assisting with assessment processes, creating and maintaining therapy resources, and monitoring client progress. The assistant will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, families, and carers to ensure therapy strategies are reinforced across home, school, and community settings. Key Responsibilities of an SLPA:

· Support clinical service delivery by implementing therapy programs developed and overseen by a Speech Pathologist.

· Conduct individual or group therapy sessions with clients, under the direction of a Speech Pathologist, across paediatric, adult, and disability caseloads.

· Assist with assessment preparation by setting up therapy spaces, organising resources, and supporting clients during assessments.

· Create, prepare, and maintain therapy materials (e.g., visuals, AAC resources, home practice programs).

· Monitor and record client progress, providing feedback and documentation to the supervising Speech Pathologist.

· Encourage client engagement in therapy through age-appropriate, motivating, and person-centred approaches.

· Support the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and technology with clients and families.

· Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, families, carers, and educators to ensure therapy goals are reinforced in everyday settings.

· Maintain accurate records in line with organisational and NDIS documentation requirements.

· Uphold client safety and wellbeing by following ethical standards, confidentiality, and workplace health and safety policies.

· Participate in supervision, training, and professional development to continually build skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

· Cert IV in Allied Health Assistance (Speech Pathology)

· Previous experience as a Speech Pathologist Assistant
