About the role
- Coordinate the delivery of the MD program curriculum for Year 3 and 4 Clinical Years.
- Facilitate schools participation in evaluation and ongoing improvement of the MD program curriculum.
- Provide leadership and manage the day-to-day operational matters of the Clinical Schools, including:
academic and administrative staff matters, including adjunct appointments
negotiating contracts and agreements as required
input into operational budgets
stakeholder consultation and liaison
negotiating and coordinating clinical placements
sustained contribution to the professional development of other staff
- Manage the student allocation to Clinical Schools for Years 3 and 4 with the Clinical Placements Coordinator and elective learning period placements.
- Coordinate Clinical School participation in quality processes and liaise with relevant health department, Governments, and private jurisdictions.
- Provide support in student matters, pastoral care and monitoring academic progress; and facilitating student access to university services.
- Chair the Heads of Clinical School Committee, and other committees and working groups.
- Ensure significant external engagement with the community and discipline/profession.
- Possession of a medical qualification registrable with AHPRA and either: a PhD or a Fellowship of a relevant professional body; and a Masters level qualification in a relevant field with at least 5 years teaching experience in the Higher Education Sector.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in medical education, clinical practice and negotiating with health service.
- Demonstrated experience with leading and managing teams within complex organisational structures.
- Demonstrated experience of a high level of pastoral care to students.
- Strong people management, excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload and meet deadlines in a busy education environment.
- Computer literacy with standard office programs and use of relevant digital technology.
