With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and customer outcomes, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our Infrastructure Management Office (IMO) as the Manager Portfolio Performance & Controls.

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure Management Office, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for providing efficient, timely, and consistent project performance, integrated cost control and scheduling, and project controls support across SA Water's Capital Delivery portfolio. This role is pivotal in driving consistency, transparency, and data-driven insights that enable informed decision-making and optimise investment outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the refresh of SA Water's systems. You will bring fresh impetus to the team, upskill the workforce, and help shape the future by reviewing current practices and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Empowering leadership: Inspire and guide a skilled team by fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and collaboration. Provide opportunities for professional development to ensure the team thrives and delivers exceptional results.
  • Driving digital enablement: Lead the adoption of advanced digital tools (e.g., project management platforms, real-time dashboards) to enhance project controls and reporting capabilities while maintaining high standards of data accuracy and integrity.
  • Performance management: Monitor the performance of program management and contracting partners against established KPIs and service level agreements, providing independent oversight to mitigate risks related to cost or schedule deviations.
  • Process optimisation: Design and implement scalable processes, workflows, and tools to effectively manage cost control, scheduling, contingency planning, contract variations, and change management across projects and programs.
  • Operational excellence: Continuously refine tools and processes to streamline operations, reduce complexity, and improve efficiency while delivering better outcomes for customers.
  • Enhanced reporting frameworks: Design comprehensive reporting structures that provide clear insights into cost and schedule performance at all organisational levels, supporting informed and date driven decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Strategic vision: Review current practices to identify gaps and implement improvements that align with best practices in large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • System refresh: Play a key role in new systems implementation that enhance operational efficiency across the business.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in project management or equivalent experience in delivering large-scale projects or a project controls background.
  • Background in large/heavy infrastructure businesses is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience leading teams through change to achieve sustainable high-performance cultures.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and convey process changes effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within and improving project/program management governance processes.
  • Sound analytical skills with the ability to assess, evaluate, and solve complex problems.
