Chef de Partie / Sous Chef – Full-Time (Day Shifts, Monday to Friday)

Salary: $70,000 per annum (inclusive of salary sacrifice)

Location: Loaves & Fishes Tasmania, Devonport & Surrounds

Start Date: Immediate start available

Loaves & Fishes Tasmania is seeking a capable and motivated Chef de Partie / Sous to join our professional kitchen team. Our commercial café is a fast-paced, high-quality venue offering a diverse menu that includes modern café fare and South East Asian-inspired dishes.

This is a hands-on role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the café kitchen, including food preparation, service, ordering, and maintaining high standards of quality and presentation. You will be supported by an excellent, dedicated on-site team and a network of chefs across the state, ensuring a collaborative and rewarding work environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including ordering, prep, and service
  • Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards across all dishes
  • Work closely with the Food Services Manager and broader culinary network to deliver seasonal and innovative menus
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace standards
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture

About You

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie in a busy café or restaurant environment
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain a calm, professional manner
  • Passion for fresh, quality produce
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and a genuine team player
  • Working with Vulnerable People Card, or ability to obtain one
  • Food Safety Supervisor, or ability to obtain
  • Certificate III Commercial Cookery
  • First Aid Certificate preferred
