The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced
Project Controls Manager
to join our Brisbane office. Reporting to the Manager of Projects, this newly created role will establish the project controls function for the business and provide direct support to a key client and major project.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage project controls functions across planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and reporting for multiple projects.
  • Manage the development of capital cost and service estimates based on project scope, specifications, and schedule requirement.
  • Lead and mentor a team to provide guidance, training and development opportunities.
  • Implement and maintain project control systems and procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and transparency across projects.
  • Establish project work breakdown structure and coding structure, in accordance with project requirements, to control costs, hours, and schedule.
  • Support the project set up process to ensure project schedules, cost management system, and reporting tools are developed with control budgets and schedules.
  • Support the development of project specific deliverables such as basis of estimate, basis of schedule and project controls plan.
  • Earned value management, progress reporting and analysis of project performance information.
  • Support contract and change management processes, including evaluation of scope changes, cost impacts, and schedule adjustments.
  • Deliver accurate and timely analysis of project performance data, including trends and forecasts to support informed decision-making and corrective actions.
  • Monitor schedule progress, identify deviations and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays and maintain project progress via logic sequencing and critical path analysis.
  • Monitor expenditure, analyse cost performance, and report budget variances against control budgets.
  • Integrate risk management strategies into project plans and decision-making processes in coordination with project teams.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including change orders, approvals, and correspondence, to ensure traceability and audit compliance.
  • The position requires occasional site travel.
  • Drive continuous improvement, strategic planning and business change initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 12+ years' experience managing project controls on complex projects or programs, with previous experience in a leadership role within EPCM/EPC project consulting environment.
  • Sound knowledge of scheduling and cost controls systems with experience in Contruent (PRISM), Primavera, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and PowerBI being favourable.
  • Knowledge of cost and scheduled Quantitative and Qualitative Risk Analysis processes.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite software skills with advanced excel capability.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, cost accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to interpret complex project controls data to support accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Collaborative leader, able to build alignment utilising excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management capability with ability to influence stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Adaptable and decisive problem solver, able to navigate change, organise and prioritise multiple demands simultaneously.
