Adelaide, South Australia KBR Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year
Title:
Senior Mechanical Engineer

With a significant pipeline of work in various industries across Australia, including Water, Defence, Energy and Resources this opportunity is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in FEED, detailed design, consulting or complex engineering projects, including process plants, industrial equipment and machinery, pipelines, drainage systems, pumping stations, or treatment facilities to join our high-performing Adelaide team.

As part of this team, you'll be a member of KBR's Water, Environment and Industrial team, with national exposure across a wide range of industries.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for and mentor junior engineers and play a key role in contributing to quality engineering, client relationships, technical oversight, and the commercial success of the business unit. You will collaborate with a diverse team of talented people who are committed to supporting our clients and work on significant infrastructure projects that are shaping the future of Australia.

Role:

This role will suit someone with experience in the delivery of detailed infrastructure design, particularly in the Resources, Water and Wastewater or Defence industries, who is looking to drive technical excellence and guide and develop junior engineers while working across a range of multi-faceted engineering projects.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Assist in defining the scope of works for various projects
  • Prepare concept, preliminary, and detailed designs of mechanical and hydraulic systems, including pumping stations, process plants, industrial facilities and treatment facilities in line with Australian and local authority standards
  • Prepare specifications, selecting materials and components
  • Coordinate works with construction contractors including construction site visits where required
  • Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers
  • Provide technical oversight to the design of assets across all project stages
  • Work as part of large multi-disciplinary teams to deliver highly coordinated infrastructure documentation
  • Develop standard products and design tools to drive technical excellence and design efficiencies within the broader team
As part of our team, you will play a key role in contributing to quality engineering, client relationships, technical oversight, and the commercial success of the business unit. You will collaborate with a diverse team of talented people who are committed to supporting our clients through long-term partnership arrangements; not to mention a key contributor to delivering projects.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Hold an accredited Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Engineering design experience with knowledge of industry standards.
  • Hydraulic modelling or pipe stress analysis experience (e.g. CFD, FATHOM, Watergems, CAESAR II) is highly desirable
  • Experience with cranes and/or heavy machinery is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to work in engineering, and design modelling teams, working directly with clients, and manage projects to scope, budget and program.
  • A Chartered Engineer (CPEng) credential from Engineers Australia or the ability to obtain chartership
  • Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a baseline Defence security clearance.
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) eligible*
* As some of the works in the Defence industry support the broader AUKUS program, there is a need to comply with US Department of Defence regulations and access to critical design information is only available to ITAR eligible personnel.
