Occupational Therapist: Make a Profound Impact in Aboriginal Health & Forensic Justice
Strong Futures is seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic, female-led private practice. This is an opportunity to deliver culturally safe and life-changing services to NDIS participants across Western Australia, including vital work within the WA Prison System and travel to the Pilbara and Kimberley regions (optional).
About Us: At Strong Futures, we believe in empowering individuals to achieve their full potential. We are a highly respected practice committed to providing exceptional, culturally sensitive allied health services. Our supportive team culture prioritises work-life balance, professional growth, and making a real difference in the lives of First Nations communities and those within the forensic justice system. Our office is based in Welshpool, Perth.
Occupational Therapy Team:
Our purpose is to empower self-determination, build cognitive and social-emotional capacity for recovery, and support rehabilitation and community re-entry following trauma, injury, or incarceration. We champion inclusion, occupational justice, and equitable access to opportunity, ensuring clinical excellence is grounded in respect, collaboration, and cultural humility.
Imagine a Career Where You Can:
- Make an Impact: Work hand-in-hand with First Nations communities and individuals within the forensic justice system, directly contributing to improved health outcomes and positive change. Help clients with diverse needs (Psychosocial, TBI, FASD, Autism) unlock greater independence and participation in daily life.
- Thrive in a Supportive Environment: Be part of a close-knit team that genuinely values your well-being. Benefit from manageable, flexible work hours, and generous leave. Our dedicated admin team handles all the heavy lifting (invoicing, note entry, proofreading), so you can focus on delivering high-quality client care.
- Accelerate Your Professional Growth: Receive comprehensive training in forensic service delivery and culturally safe practices. Build long-term, impactful relationships with clients and stakeholders. Embrace fly-in-fly-out opportunities to rural and remote locations, gaining invaluable experience with time off in lieu.
- Explore a Unique Career Path: Shape your own caseload within an inspiring community. Experience the profound satisfaction of empowering individuals to navigate daily activities, enhance their well-being, and achieve their personal goals.
About the Role: As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide culturally safe and appropriate therapeutic services, focusing on enhancing participation for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal NDIS clients. Your diverse caseload will include individuals with ASD, FASD, Executive Function Disorders, Cognitive Communication Disorders, and other complex needs.
You'll enjoy clinical autonomy while collaborating with a supportive multidisciplinary team. Opportunities exist to work across the Perth metro area, the Pilbara (Port Hedland, Broome, Derby), and within correctional facilities throughout WA.
What We Offer:
- Highly Competitive Salary: Starting from $90,000 per year, plus monthly kilometer reimbursement.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Company laptop/mobile phone, 10 days personal leave, 4 weeks annual leave.
- Amazing Support: Weekly supervision, dedicated administrative support, and a positive, collaborative team culture.
- Exceptional Professional Development: Specialist training and upskilling in forensic and culturally safe service delivery.
- Flexibility: Full-time, part-time, and contract options available. Choose your own working hours and holidays.
About You:
