Key Responsibilities:

  • Heavy fabrication experience with a focus on structural steel.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine set-up and welding processes.
  • Understand industry standards and requirements to ensure quality and accuracy in fabrication.
  • Use hand tools (hammers, chisels, measuring tools, weld gauges) and power tools (buffing wheels, drills, polishers, grinders).
  • Align parts using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Perform welding using GMAW, FCAW, oxyacetylene cutting, and plasma cutting equipment.
  • Conduct flame heating and bending.
  • Implement WHS procedures, ensuring the use of required PPE to complete jobs safely.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings accurately.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including welding machines and cutting torches.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and tradespeople for project success.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain an organized, clean work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Trade qualification as a Boilermaker or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a workshop environment with heavy structural steel fabrication.
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints independently.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
