About the role
We're recruiting two Senior Contracts & Commercial Managers to lead key portfolios within our Assets & Maintenance Group. These roles are pivotal in managing complex service and supply contracts, providing commercial advice, work closely with procurement and supporting dispute and claims management. You'll lead teams, mentor and develop capability, and collaborate across functions to ensure contracts deliver value, compliance, and strategic alignment.
Key accountabilities include:
- Lead the end-to-end management of service and supply contracts, including negotiation, execution, and performance oversight.
- Provide commercial advice and support on contract variations, claims, and dispute resolution
- Develop contract management plans and ensure alignment with procurement and risk policies
- Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement strategies to maximise value
- Deliver commercial insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making
- Build strong working relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Mentor and upskill team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
About you
You're a commercially focused leader with deep expertise in contract and supplier management and procurement. You bring clarity, influence, and strategic thinking to complex environments, and thrive on building capability and driving meaningful outcomes.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success managing high-value contracts and supplier relationships.
- Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.
- Experience leading teams and driving performance across diverse functions.
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
- Skilled in identifying commercial opportunities and managing contract risk.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Experience in dispute resolution and ensuring contract compliance.
- Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
