You're only human.
It's a strange thing to say, because us humans are capable of incredible things. And at Medibank, we know our greatest potential lies in the people who work with us.
We strive to make real, fundamental change, driven by a simple purpose: to create the best health and wellbeing for all of Australia.
At Medibank, we're committed to creating Better Health for Better Lives. That means using data not just to understand our customers—but to improve their experience, drive innovation, and deliver real impact.
We're looking for a Data Science Engineer to join our Strategy & Analytics team. If you're passionate about turning data into insight, and insight into action, this is your opportunity to make a difference.
The Opportunity
As a Data Science Engineer, you'll design and optimise analytical models and experiments that uncover insights across customer behaviour, digital channels and product performance. You'll work with cloud-based tools (especially AWS), apply advanced analytics, and collaborate across teams to deliver solutions that drive customer lifetime value and commercial outcomes.
Your work will help shape how we engage with customers—whether it's through smarter acquisition strategies, personalised recommendations, or improving the customer journey.
What you'll be doing:
- Build and optimise predictive models (e.g. propensity, trigger-based, segmentation) to support marketing, product and channel strategies
- Run large-scale experiments using AWS tools like SageMaker, EC2, S3 and Glue
- Apply performance tuning techniques to improve model scalability and efficiency
- Translate complex analytics into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders
- Collaborate across teams to industrialise data science tools and embed them into decision-making
- Explore new data sources and tools to deepen customer understanding
About You
You're a curious problem-solver with a strong technical foundation and a passion for using data to drive change. You bring:
- A tertiary qualification in computer science, data science, engineering or a related field (postgraduate degree is a plus)
- A couple of years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering or similar
- Strong coding skills in Python (SAS is a bonus)
- Experience with cloud-based experimentation and model optimisation
- Ability to distil complex analytics into simple, compelling stories
- Experience in predictive modelling and statistical analysis
Why Join Us?
At Medibank, you'll be part of a collaborative team that values innovation, growth and purpose. You'll work on meaningful projects that improve customer outcomes and help shape the future of health.
If you're ready to use your skills to make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply now and help us build a healthier future.
