Project Finance Officer

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

We are looking for a results-focused Project Finance Officer to ensure the efficient processing of invoices for the Snowy 2.0 project.  As the primary contact for both suppliers and a range of internal teams, you will provide support to the Snowy 2.0 Project Accountants and the Snowy 2.0 Commercial Team.

This is a full-time role based in Cooma.

• Review supplier invoices and manage payments through the relevant approval processes to ensure timely processing through Snowy Hydro systems and the central Accounts Payable team. 

• Maintain and update various registers, including the Snowy 2.0 Invoice and contract variation registers.

• Evaluate and confirm invoice amounts against contract provisions, verify contract payment terms and liaise with relevant teams to resolve any issues, ensuring that all payments comply with relevant standards, policies and procedures.

• Monitor supplier spend against contracts and assist with reporting to Contract Managers accordingly.

• Proactively track invoice due dates, ensure timely follow-up for approvals, identify need for future contract variations or new contracts and manage outstanding approvals, including expediting critical payments. 

• Source & record labour hours worked on the project by Snowy personnel and assist with preparation of project accruals and posting end-of-month journals.

• Assist with contract administration related matters, reporting on financial delegations compliance, reconciling Corporate Travel and responses to auditor information requests. 

• Perform other ad-hoc duties as directed by Snowy 2.0 Project Accountants.

• Experience in civil/mining/construction projects or large utility/services businesses, and a good understanding of contract basics

• Familiarity with accounts payable and procurement processes

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and project management software, with experience in creating reports and data analysis

• Strong attention to detail and highly organised

• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well at all levels, both verbally and in writing

• Strong problem solving skills, results orientated with the ability to collaborate with project teams

• Willingness to take ownership of tasks and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
