Housing Australia is the Commonwealth's independent housing authority, established as a corporate Commonwealth entity in 2018 under the
Housing Australia Act
to improve housing outcomes for Australians. Housing Australia sits within the Treasury portfolio and is governed by a Board of non-executive directors appointed by the Minister for Housing.
Housing Australia administers several government programs, including the Housing Australia Future Fund Facility, National Housing Accord Facility, Affordable Housing Bond Aggregator, National Housing Infrastructure Facility and Home Guarantee Scheme. Housing Australia delivers on its objective of improving housing outcomes by providing grants, loans and other support to increase the supply of housing, encouraging investment in housing, providing finance or grants that support housing programs within other areas of government, increasing the capability of the community housing sector and assisting individuals to access the housing market earlier. About the role
The Analyst – Data & Reporting is responsible for conducting data analysis, generating reports, and carry out data availability, accuracy, and management processes within Housing Australia's data and reporting requirements.
This role focusses on managing and interpreting data related to various business units, programs, initiatives and external sources to support the performance insights and evaluation needs.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare regular reports, briefings and correspondence to communicate findings and insights to stakeholders including business units, executive team, Board, Minister's Office and other government
- Ensure data and reporting initiatives are carried out in an accurate, timely and efficient manner
- Design, develop and enhance reporting dashboards and tools for business self-service of information via enterprise tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and PDF
- Foster a culture of performance excellence, encouraging a continuous improvement mindset across teams and functions to achieve key business outcomes
- Build and nurture effective working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including across teams and with external stakeholders
- Assist with maintaining risk management programs, including completing data risk and controls templates for business-critical reports and consistently undertaking data integrity and validation processes
- Following established protocols for good information management practices and business rules for information use, storage and sharing
Skills and experience
To be successful in the role, you will have at least 3+ years demonstrated experience in a financial services business reporting analyst role.
Additionally, you will have the following:
- Proven ability to analyse and work with data to inform business decisions, with a track record of using data to uncover insights
- Experience using data visualisation technologies (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) to present data to a range of audiences effectively
- Proven ability to develop appropriate reporting outputs with an outcomes-oriented approach, demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy
- Communication skills with the ability to synthesize insights from analysis into clear conclusions and recommendations in various formats
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately, including listening, understanding, and adapting to stakeholders' needs. A results-oriented approach, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise data and reporting initiatives and BAU cadence responsibilities to effectively achieve operational & strategic goals
- Good relationship management skills to ensure data and insights produced for stakeholders are relevant and practical
- A relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, statistics, business, economics or similar
- Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Knowledge and experience in Python or R will be highly regarded
- Database experience in Microsoft Azure and Synapse environment highly regarded
- Competent in Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint / MS teams) and desktop applications
