About the role

Western Health is excited to announce a Nurse Unit Manager opportunity at our Sunshine Campus. If you are an experienced Nurse Unit Manager or Surgical Nurse looking to take on this leadership position and join our rapidly expanding organisation, then this is the job for you. We are seeking a patient centred, motivated and highly passionate Nurse to lead our Ward 1A Surgical Nursing team.

1A is a busy 30-bed surgical ward which specialises in General Surgical procedures, Plastics, ENT and Breast Surgery. You will form part of and lead a multi-disciplinary clincial team, working collaboratively to provide 'Best Care' to our patients, based on the Western Health values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Safety.

Through visible and accessible leadership, the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is at the forefront of providing care that is underpinned by right, safe, coordinated and high quality nursing patient centred care across the multidisciplinary environment of their unit. The role is responsible for the operational, professional and clinical service management of their staff and resources. The NUM will achieve this through the development of effective partnerships, leadership and management of all nursing staff and resources, within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Model and reinforce the behaviours and actions outlined in the Western health vision for Best Care
  • Provide proactive leadership and support to sutain 'Timely Care'
  • Promote a culture of learning and innovation and research within the unit by acting as a clinical nurse lead providing support, mentoring and education to team members
  • Proactively manage retention/rectuitment of staff
  • Develop and manage the budget of the ward on a continuous basis with a monthly review with your line manager

About you: To be successful in this role you will meet the following;

  • Current registration as a Registared Nurse with AHPRA
  • Successful completion of Bachelor of Nursing
  • Possess excellent clincial, organisational and leadership skills
  • Possess current surgical nursing experience and value positive patient experience
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team
  • Currently in a leadership position
