Restaurant & Bar Supervisor – Lead Our Crew with Skill and Style
3 days ago
Who We Are
At Hotel Bruny, we're more than just a restaurant and bar. We're the hub of hospitality on Bruny Island, where locals and visitors come together over fresh oysters, great drinks, and stories of wild weather and ferry rides across the channel. Our dining room is lively, our service is smooth, and our team culture is fun and down-to-earth. We take pride in creating unforgettable memories for our guests, but we don't take ourselves too seriously while we do it. Sharing a yarn and a laugh with the locals is all part of the job.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a Restaurant and Bar Supervisor who thrives in the thick of service and doesn't mind a bit of Bruny unpredictability — whether that's a rush of ferry foot traffic arriving all at once, or a South Westerly blowing in mid-shift. You'll know how to keep the energy positive, lead with confidence and calm, and still find a moment to have a laugh with your crew and the guests. Great leadership here means inspiring your team, setting high standards, and knowing when to jump in and lend a hand. If you can juggle ten things at once while keeping guests happy and your staff motivated, you'll fit right in.
The Role
As our Restaurant and Bar Supervisor, you'll be the steady hand guiding the ship. You'll lead a diverse team across bar and floor service, keep things running smoothly during the busiest services, and make sure every plate of seafood and every glass of Tasmanian pinot is served with care. You'll play an important part in training new staff, supporting the growth of our core team, and creating lifelong memories for the people who come to Bruny Island to experience something special. You'll have the full backing of our Venue Manager, Operations Manager, and the wider Hotel Bruny family, so you'll never be left to weather the storm alone.
What You'll Bring
You'll bring sharp customer service skills, resilience, and the ability to stay calm when the dining room is buzzing. You'll know how to manage time, keep the pace moving, and handle whatever the day brings. Leadership that inspires rather than intimidates will be your style, and you'll thrive on supporting, motivating, and mentoring your team. A sense of humour is essential, as is a knack for connecting with our regulars and visitors over a drink, a yarn, or a Bruny oyster.
What We Offer
At Hotel Bruny, we believe work should be rewarding and enjoyable. You'll be part of a supportive, professional crew who value trust, creativity, and a good sense of humour. You'll have opportunities for career growth across our group of hotels and venues. And of course, you'll get to live and work in one of the most beautiful parts of the world — where the air is fresh, the views are unbeatable, and your days off can be spent exploring beaches, bush tracks, and local producers. Here, high standards and good banter go hand in hand.
How to Apply
If this sounds like your kind of adventure, we'd love to hear from you. Please send us your CV along with a short cover letter telling us why you're the right person to lead our team -
