About the Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital Cancer Services is seeking a compassionate and skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team.
In this role, you will provide evidence-based assessment, intervention and support to patients and families as they navigate treatment and recovery in their cancer journey. You will work closely with medical and allied health professionals to deliver holistic, patient-centred care, while also serving as a strong advocate for patients and their families.
We are seeking an experienced clinician with strong skills in clinical assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and delivery. A passion for improving the wellbeing and quality of life of people affected by cancer is essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

What You'll be Doing
This position within the clinical Psycho-Oncology Service provides psychological diagnosis, assessment and treatment for patients of the Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre and their carers, presenting with a wide of psychological issues. These may include depression, anxiety, specific phobias, adjustment disorders, cognitive and behavioral problems and grief and loss. Clients will be seen individually and may be seen in groups.
The Clinical Psychologist will participate in research and education and may be expected to supervise post-graduate Psychology interns. Clinical work will occur within the context of a multidisciplinary health care and psycho-oncology team.

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, offering a wide range of state-wide services including critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, and brain injury rehabilitation. As a key teaching facility for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, it provides extensive clinical services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, paediatrics, and mental health services. The hospital features 23 operating theatres and has a capacity for 877 beds.
The ongoing $830 million redevelopment as part of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct is transforming the hospital into a global hub for medical innovation. - Master degree in Clinical Psychology or higher, registration with the NSW Psychologists Registration Board as well as eligibility for full membership of the Australian Psychological Society.
- Sensitivity to the needs and demonstrated knowledge of psycho-social issues for patients with cancer and their carers.
- Ability to use a wide variety of psychological interventions to provide evidence based, patient-centered care which includes specific training in cognitive behavioral treatment, as well as provision of various additional treatment modalities, including amongst other, brief psychotherapy, sexual counselling and grief therapy.
- Demonstrated experience working independently in the provision of patient/consumer-focused care
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
