About the Role
As our new Senior Project Officer, you will join our Reviews and Committees team within the Office of the Chief Scientist and Engineer group.   You will play a key role in supporting the Reviews and Committees team within the Office of the Chief Scientist & Engineer (OCSE). The role provides technical, scientific, and evidence-based input into a range of government commissioned reviews, policy initiatives, and committee work across diverse and complex subject areas. Working closely with the Chief Scientist & Engineer, Deputy Chief Scientist & Engineer, and senior team members, the Senior Project Officer contributes to the analysis of scientific data and submissions, preparation of technical reports, and delivery of high-quality, fact checked advice that informs policy and decision making. In addition to scientific and technical expertise, the role requires strong project coordination and communication skills. You will manage a variety of tasks including the preparation of briefing materials, coordination of expert contributors, and support of high-level technical committees.

We're Looking For

  • Technical and Scientific Analysis: Ability to analyse, synthesise, and interpret complex scientific, regulatory, and technical information to support evidence-based government reviews and initiatives.
  • Scientific Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to produce, review, and fact-check scientific content, reports, briefings, and committee documentation.
  • Project and Stakeholder Management: Experience managing multiple projects, coordinating resources, and supporting high-level stakeholders, including committees and expert panels.
  • Research and Evidence Based Problem Solving: Demonstrated capability in conducting scientific research and applying critical thinking to develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Proven ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders from multiple sectors, and to manage competing priorities.
