This client requires a
Senior Power BI Developer
to act as a subject matter expert and technical leader for their entire reporting suite. You will be instrumental in transforming complex data models into highly performant, visually compelling, and actionable Power BI dashboards. This role demands mastery of DAX, report
optimisation
techniques, and the ability to define and enforce governance
practises
across the Power BI service.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development and architecture
    of the enterprise Power BI reporting solution, ensuring best
    practises
    in data visualization, UX, and security are applied.
  • Develop highly complex and optimised DAX measures
    and calculated tables to address sophisticated business logic and drive high report performance.
  • Own the full lifecycle of Power BI artefacts
    , from initial data source connection and transformation (using Power Query/M) through to final deployment and governance in the Power BI Service.
  • Collaborate closely
    with data architects and business
    analysts
    to design semantic models (datasets) that are scalable, reliable, and meet the
    analytical
    needs of various business units.
  • Define and implement governance practises
    for the Power BI environment, managing workspaces, premium capacities, deployment pipelines, and access controls.
  • Mentor and guide
    junior developers and self-service users on Power BI development, data modelling, and report
    optimisation
    techniques.
  • Proactively troubleshoot
    and resolve performance bottlenecks in reports and underlying data models.

What You'll Bring

  • 6+ years of progressive professional experience as a BI Developer, with at least 2 years operating in a
    Senior or Lead
    capacity specifically focused on Microsoft Power BI.
  • Expert-level proficiency in DAX
    for creating advanced, high-performance measures and managing calculation contexts.
  • Deep experience in data modelling
    principles, including star and snowflake schemas, specifically within the Power BI desktop environment.
  • Strong proficiency in
    SQL
    for data extraction and verification.
  • Proven experience managing the Power BI Service, including Premium capacity administration, gateway configuration, and setting up deployment
    programmes
    (pipelines).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex visualization concepts and
    analytical
    findings.
  • Knowledge of cloud data services (e.g., Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift) as data sources is highly desirable.
