Maintenance Manager – Rearing & Production Farms

About the role:

Reporting to the Breeder Division Manager, this position is responsible for managing engineering maintenance and technology for plant, equipment, and machinery across multiple poultry rearing & production farm sites within the Goulburn NSW area.

Responsible for reviewing and assessing current and new engineering technologies and advising on improvements, modifications, and new engineering technologies to improve current production operations and assess and advise upon new or proposed engineering projects on poultry rearing & production farm sites.

Responsibilities, tasks, and duties:

  • Responding to and managing engineering maintenance and technology breakdowns promptly.
  • Designing and implementing preventative engineering maintenance and technology program(s).
  • Development of key performance indicators (KPIs) for engineering maintenance and technology.
  • Manage contract workers as required.
  • Providing input into the capex and opex program, including the development of an annual budget.
  • Implement an annual engineering maintenance, technology, and preventative works program.
  • Assisting with the planning of major engineering maintenance and technology capital projects and overseeing their implementation, testing, and modification as required.
  • Prioritising unplanned engineering maintenance and technology works to ensure key infrastructure is repaired/restored promptly.
  • Liaising with key staff to ensure engineering maintenance and technology works remain on budget, stock levels are maintained at an adequate level, and are documented appropriately.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute preventative and reactive engineering maintenance and technology maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair engineering systems, technology, and machinery on time.
  • Measure, monitor, track, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure attainment of maintenance objectives.  Use KPI's to set and achieve Improvement objectives.
  • Assist with the installation and relocation of associated equipment.
  • To comply with all relevant legislation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks regularly.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills in mechanical design, root cause failure analysis, and maintenance.

To be successful for this role, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A Mechanical Engineering Degree and/or Diploma is essential.
  • Relevant trade qualifications
  • 3+ years proven experience within a farming environment.
  • Good computer literacy with well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and decision-making ability
  • Experience with troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • A restricted electrical license would be highly regarded, though not essential.
  • You must be self-motivated, inquisitive, and proactive in your work.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The flexibility regarding working hours, which may include working overtime and weekends
  • High level of numeracy and literacy skills
