Your New Opportunity:
A full time, permanent opportunity exists for a dedicated and professional Security Officer to join our Defence Programmes Group and Performing the Security Officer (SO) function for the company as defined by the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF).
This career opportunity can be based at Kings Park NSW, Wacol QLD, Adelaide (Edinburgh) SA or Altona North VIC, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring security protocols, ensuring compliance with policies, and providing a secure environment for all employees and visitors.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Perform Security Officer (SO) function for the company based on the requirements of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF).
- Supporting CSO with oversight and responsibility for security arrangements and championing a positive security culture at Penske.
- Prepare and deliver on-boarding, off-boarding and defensive overseas travel briefings in accordance with DSPF requirements.
- Provide Security advice, guidance, and recommendations to ensure the appropriate application of Security practices and processes are delivered within the business.
- Ensure all staff undertaking any activities in relation to Defence have undertaken the necessary pre-employment screening checks (Australian Standard , as per the DISP requirement details within DSPF.
- Conduct scheduled DISP assurance activities as required per DSPF 16.1 to support the Chief Security Officer's DISP governance activities including audits and regulatory compliance.
- Management of the national security clearance process, including new applications for employees who require AGSVA security clearances and revalidation of existing clearances when due.
- Maintain a Security Register, consistent with DSPF requirements including a database (DSAP) of all security cleared personnel and present to the CSO for quarterly review.
- Development, implementation and reviewing of security policies and plans. Preparation of security risk assessments.
- Starting, editing, and submitting the Annual Security report to the Chief Security Officer (CSO).
- Comply with the Penske Australia Security Self-Inspection and reporting schedule and related direction from the Directorate of Security Assurance (DoSA), the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) and the Defence Industry Security Program.
About you:
You are a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in protective and personnel security, facility access management, and compliance within complex operational environment.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of security requirements within a Defence environment, including an understanding of the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
You possess excellent judgement and the ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism. You can work independently while also collaborating effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Your strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enable you to prepare comprehensive reports, liaise confidently with senior personnel, and contribute to the development of security awareness across the organisation.
Specifically:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Security Officer/Advisor role within Defence or Defence Industry.
- Completed the Directorate of Security Assurance (DoSA) Security Officer training course within the past 3 years.
- Completed the Directorate of Security Assurance (DoSA) Security Risk Management training course or Security Risk Management qualification.
- Be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Security Clearance of Negative Vetting 1.
- Able to implement, support and influence a positive security culture by raising security awareness among staff, and modelling behaviours to demonstrate Penske's values of Ownership, Passion, Teamwork, Integrity and Care.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply security frameworks, policies, standards, and provide advice based on them.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, being approachable, and building rapport with people across the business and from the Defence environment.
- Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
