Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance Full time

About the Role

As the Training Product Development Team Lead, you'll lead the development and delivery of nationally accredited training products that support Australia's mining and automotive workforce.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Training Products, you'll oversee training package development across the AUR, AUM and RII Training Packages, ensuring products are industry-led, future-focused, and compliant with national standards.

Operating in a national, tripartite environment, you'll work closely with industry, unions, training providers, government and other Jobs and Skills Councils to translate workforce needs into high-quality training outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining people leadership, project delivery, stakeholder consultation and technical expertise.

Your work will directly contribute to national workforce reform and ensure training products remain trusted, relevant and responsive to evolving skills needs.

This is a fixed term contract opportunity until June 2028.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and oversee multiple, complex training product and training package development projects from inception to submission
  • Manage and mentor a team of Training Package Developers, supporting performance, capability development and delivery outcomes
  • Undertake and oversee workforce functional analyses to inform training product design and development
  • Ensure all training products meet the requirements of the Training Package Organising Framework (TPOF) and quality assurance standards
  • Lead high-level stakeholder consultation with industry, RTOs, unions, regulators and government
  • Prepare and present high-quality documentation, reports and updates for Strategic Workforce Advisory Panels (SWAPs), Technical Committees, senior leaders and government
  • Manage project budgets and subcontractors, ensuring responsible financial management and timely delivery of outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) to support governance, reporting and assurance requirements
  • Represent AUSMASA in national forums, conferences and cross-JSC collaboration activities (Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.)

Who You Are

You're an experienced VET professional and people leader who enjoys balancing strategic oversight with hands-on delivery. You're confident navigating complex stakeholder environments and leading teams through concurrent, high-impact projects.

You'll bring:

  • At least five years' experience within the VET sector, with demonstrated expertise in nationally accredited training packages
  • Strong understanding of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and its application to training product development
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring teams across multiple projects
  • Demonstrated capability in project and budget management, including oversight of subcontractors
  • Extensive experience consulting with diverse stakeholders at senior levels
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and reporting
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)

Even Better If You Also Have

  • Experience in the Australian mining and/or automotive sectors
  • Previous experience working in a small, national or reform-focused organisation
  • Relevant qualifications in VET, education management, business administration or a related field
