Learning and Development Team Leader
The Department for Child Protection (DCP) works to keep children and young people safe across South Australia, supporting families, arranging care when children can't live at home, and partner with communities to create nurturing environments. Guided by child-focused, trauma-informed practices, DCP helps vulnerable children thrive.
A two-year contract opportunity is now available for a Learning and Development Team Leader to join a growing and dedicated team.
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Training and Systems, the Team Leader will play a key role in driving workforce learning initiatives across designated locations. This position is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and evolving professional development programs with a focus on improving practice, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring high-quality responses for children and families involved in child protection.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to understand, develop, and apply learning principles and methodologies, using facilitation techniques tailored to the diverse roles undertaken by learners within the Department for Child Protection (DCP). You will be skilled in conducting, supporting, and facilitating a broad range of learning and development initiatives, while also competently coaching peers and colleagues to support their professional growth.
With proven experience in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating client-focused interventions, the candidate will be capable of scoping, designing, and managing projects within defined budgets and timeframes. A commitment to continuous professional development is essential, along with the ability to take ownership of decisions and consistently deliver high-quality work aligned with departmental values.
The candidate will possess a clear understanding of the needs of diverse communities and cultures, delivering services that reflect these needs through initiative, creativity, negotiation, consultation, and conflict resolution. You will also be adept at identifying emerging trends in learning methodologies and rapidly adapting them to meet stakeholder requirements in practical and accessible ways.
This full-time position is classified at the ASO7 level and offers a valuable opportunity to contribute meaningfully to child protection practice. The successful applicant will be required to obtain a Department of Human Services Working with Children Check(WWCC) and complete Safe Environment for Children and Young People training, along with other mandatory learning modules essential to the role.
