Position Overview

We are currently seeking compassionate and skilled Disability Support Workers to join our team to provide tailored support for a client in Darley who uses a wheelchair and requires a hoist for transfers. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals, enhancing their quality of life, and promoting community inclusion.

Start Date: Friday 10th October 2025

Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities.
  • Safely operate and manage manual handling equipment including hoists, slide sheets, and wheelchairs.
  • Assist clients with personal care tasks, including grooming, hygiene, transfers, and mobility.
  • Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, their families, and other support networks.
  • Implement and document individualized support plans in collaboration with case managers.
  • Encourage and facilitate community participation and social engagement.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance the overall well-being of clients.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in disability support, aged care, or personal care is essential.
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, Aged Care, or a relevant qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting clients who use wheelchairs and hoist transfers.
  • Completion of Manual Handling Training and Hoist Training (or willingness to complete prior to commencement).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to implement behaviour support plans.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to adapt to the specific individual needs and preferences of clients.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable car is required.
Pay Rates
  • Weekday Shift: $35
  • Saturday: $45
  • Sunday: $60
