- Casual rate $43.24 p/hr (unqualified) or $48.31 p/hr (qualified) + super
- Experience in the out of home care space is desired
The Opportunity
The aim of Targeted Care Packages is first and foremost to achieve better outcomes for children and young people in out-of-home care.
At the heart of the framework is the child and carer with specialist therapeutic intervention and support services wrapped around the young person to enable them to experience a sense of belonging, support to achieve and thrive with hope for their future. This position supports both the young person and the carer/s on a 1:1 basis.
This role will also be involved with Berry Street's OUR house program which provides day respite, transport and 1:1 support to young people of all ages either at the house or in the local community completing outreach.
Key Responsibilities
Under direction and supervision provide individual support aimed at risk minimisation and maximising personal development through a range of intervention techniques. This includes:
- Developing independent living skills.
- Engaging in social and recreational activities.
- Establish and maintain an appropriate relationship with clients to generate a trusting relationship, with commitment to protecting client confidentiality, privacy, individual choice and decision making.
- Provide transportation for young people/young adults.
- Provide 1:1 care during day respites.
About You
- Experienced with working with young people with the ability to achieve positive outcomes for young people through a strengths-based, outcomes-focussed case management approach.
- Have sound knowledge of the nature of protective issues, homelessness, trauma and attachment, disability and the implications for their chronological, emotional and behavioural development.
- Strong communicator with the capacity to advocate, engage and negotiate with relevant stakeholders including family and government and community sector representatives where appropriate.
Qualification requirements include a Diploma in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services or other related field. However, applicants without a qualification can be considered at an unqualified rate.
