About the role
As a General Hand in the steel industry, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our Pooraka facility. Working as part of a close-knit team, your primary responsibilities will involve a range of general laboring duties to support the smooth and efficient running of our warehouse and distribution operations. This full-time permanent position offers the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in a fast-paced industrial environment.
What you'll be doing
- Picking orders, loading and unloading trucks
- Check quality of parts- cleaning, checking measurements and labelling parts and completing adequate paperwork
- Operating forklifts and other materials handling equipment
- Performing general cleaning and housekeeping duties
What we're looking for
- Forklift license is essential
- Previous experience in a warehousing, logistics or manufacturing environment
- Experience using hand tools- grinders, hand drills, etc.
- Punctual, reliable, dedicated and hardworking
- Strong physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety
