About the role

As a General Hand in the steel industry, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our Pooraka facility. Working as part of a close-knit team, your primary responsibilities will involve a range of general laboring duties to support the smooth and efficient running of our warehouse and distribution operations. This full-time permanent position offers the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in a fast-paced industrial environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Picking orders, loading and unloading trucks
  • Check quality of parts- cleaning, checking measurements and labelling parts and completing adequate paperwork
  • Operating forklifts and other materials handling equipment
  • Performing general cleaning and housekeeping duties

What we're looking for

  • Forklift license is essential
  • Previous experience in a warehousing, logistics or manufacturing environment
  • Experience using hand tools- grinders, hand drills, etc.
  • Punctual, reliable, dedicated and hardworking
  • Strong physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety
