Native Mineral Resources (NMR) is a publicly listed minerals exploration company with a portfolio of precious metal and base metal properties in pedigree Australian settings.

NMR operates the Far Fanning Gold Mine and Blackjack Processing Plant, based in the Charters Towers region of Northern Queensland as part of a new and exciting transformational acquisition. These acquisitions provide the immediate core with extensive exploration potential; several additional projects currently being prioritised also offer significant upside through resource growth opportunities.

About the Role

Based at the Blackjack Processing Plant in Charters Towers, this hands-on role is responsible for the operation of the gold room including electrowinning, calcining, bullion pouring, security controls, and general duties in the Elution plant. The Gold Room Operator plays a vital role in ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient gold recovery operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor gold room processes (electrowinning, calcining, pouring) to maximise recovery and bullion quality.
  • Operate the Elution circuit batch operation in conjunction with Shift Supervisor.
  • Safely handle and work with cyanide and other hazardous reagents in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure accurate bullion inventory, gold bar handling, and dispatch procedures.
  • Maintain gold room security and compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor process equipment and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Conduct sampling and maintain comprehensive operational records and reports.
  • Perform general maintenance, housekeeping, and safe chemical handling in the gold room.
  • Collaborate closely with processing and metallurgical teams to ensure optimal plant performance.

About You

You're a reliable, detail-oriented operator with a strong safety mindset and proven experience in gold recovery processes. You take pride in maintaining high standards and are comfortable working independently in a fast-paced mining environment.

To be successful, you will have:

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a gold room environment, including bullion pouring, electrowinning and elution circuit experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working safely with cyanide within a processing plant environment.
  • Strong understanding of gold refining processes and inventory control.
  • Familiarity with mine site isolation and permitting systems.
  • Knowledge of gold-bearing materials handling, waste minimisation, and process efficiency.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment and conducting basic tests is advantageous.
  • Sound computer literacy and ability to maintain detailed process records.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's licence and ability to pass a pre-employment medical.
  • Forklift, loader, confined space, and working at heights tickets are highly regarded.
  • S1, S2, S3 or current equivalent (preferred).
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
