NMR operates the Far Fanning Gold Mine and Blackjack Processing Plant, based in the Charters Towers region of Northern Queensland as part of a new and exciting transformational acquisition. These acquisitions provide the immediate core with extensive exploration potential with several additional projects currently being prioritised also offer significant upside through resource growth opportunities.
We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to join our team at the Blackjack Processing Plant.
About the Role
The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for the effective planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities across the site. This role plays a critical part in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring maintenance aligns with production needs.
You will work closely with operations, maintenance crews, suppliers, and subcontractors to coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance activities while ensuring all work is conducted safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short, medium, and long-term maintenance schedules
- Develop and maintain a critical spares list aligned with OEM recommendations, failure history, and maintenance strategies
- Ensure critical spare parts are catalogued correctly in the CMMS and inventory management systems
- Coordinate availability of personnel, equipment, tools, and materials
- Prioritise work orders based on operational impact and safety requirements
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to align maintenance activities with production plans
- Monitor and analyse equipment performance and implement predictive maintenance strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation and generate reports on maintenance performance and KPIs
- Drive continuous improvement in planning and scheduling processes
- Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations
About You
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance Planner who thrives in a dynamic mining environment. You will bring strong planning and organisational skills, technical knowledge, and a collaborative approach.
To be successful, you will have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a maintenance planning or scheduling role within mining or heavy industry
- Proficiency with CMMS and planning tools (e.g. SAP, Maximo, Pronto)
- Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across cross-functional teams
- A relevant trade or technical qualification (e.g. Diploma in Engineering – Mechanical)
- Valid manual driver's licence
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency
Desirable:
- Experience with spare parts and inventory control
- Familiarity with condition monitoring tools (e.g. thermography, vibration analysis)
- Exposure to project management practices
