ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team on a 12-month fixed term contract, contributing to the design and delivery of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs).

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and modelling site layouts and mechanical systems for WWTPs.
• Co-ordinate with other engineering departments to produce integrated designs.
• Collaborating with the drafting team to develop General Arrangement (GA) and fabrication drawings.
• Perform comprehensive hydraulic analyses to determine optimal pump sizing and piping configurations
• Reviewing WWTP models to refine designs and implement lessons learned.
• Supporting the development of efficient, cost-effective water treatment solutions.
• Overseeing fabrication, installation, and testing of mechanical components.
• Ensure design compliance with engineering principles, legislative requirements, project specifications, Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and industry best practices.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have:

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within water treatment projects.
• Strong CAD skills and familiarity with engineering design software.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A proactive approach to teamwork.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
