Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for Shell Energy's development and implementation of effective technology and digital strategies to deliver on the company's commercial, customer and cultural priorities.

Shell Energy provides the energy businesses and households need for today and tomorrow. It invests, trades and retails energy to help power Australia's energy transition – from renewables and firming assets to serving industries, homes, and communities through its retail businesses.  ​Its portfolio of gas-fired peaking power stations, battery storage, wind and solar generation supports energy security and reliability. ​

​Shell Energy is Australia's largest electricity retailer to commercial and industrial businesses, recognised for its market-leading customer service. It offers business electricity, gas, environmental products and smart energy solutions. Shell Energy's residential business, Powershop, provides greater choice and confidence to households and small businesses to help them take control of their energy through multiple energy plan options and digital tools. ​

This critical role leads a large, dispersed, multi-disciplinary team and is accountable for ensuring delivery of Shell Energy's digital transformation agenda. Demonstrated capability of successful, complex B2B and B2C customer/ data migrations is vital, as is a hunger to harness new and evolving technologies such as AI to drive enhancements and efficiencies.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in a similar position and can demonstrate an understanding of the broader energy sector in Australia. Customer and business needs will continue to grow in complexity as the energy transition accelerates, so it is essential this person can adapt and drive the changes required.

Exceptional leadership ability at both a functional and enterprise-wide level is a prerequisite, as well as the ability to navigate a complex stakeholder landscape.
